2001 : Sandy Bull, American folk musician, born Alexander Bull, died of lung cancer at his home near Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 60.

2006 : June Pointer aka June Antoinette Pointer Whitmore, American pop/R&B singer, born June Antoinette Pointer, died of cancer in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 52. She had a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and had suffered a stroke six weeks earlier. (The Pointer Sisters)
