1984 : Z.Z. Hill, American blues singer, born Azell Hill, died of a heart attack after a car accident in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 48.

1992 : Olivier Messiaen, French composer, organist and ornithologist, died in Clichy-la-Garenne, Paris,at the age of 83.
