1964 : Johnny Burnette, American rockabilly musician, born John Joseph Burnette, drowned in Clear Lake, California, at the age of 30. He fell in the lake after his fishing boat was struck by a cabin cruiser.

1965 : Charles Fizer, Doo-Wop singer, died Shot in the Watts Riots in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 25. (The Olympics - tenor singer)

1972 : Oscar Levant, American pianist, composer, author, comedian, and actor, died of a heart attack in Beverly Hills, California, at the age of 65.

1988 : Roy Buchanan, American guitarist and blues musician, born Leroy Buchanan, he was found hanged from his own shirt in a jail cell in the Fairfax County, Virginia Jail, at the age of 48. He had been arrested for public intoxication after a domestic dispute. His death was recorded as suicide, but his friends and family have disputed this.

1988 : Robert Calvert, South African, grown up in England, writer, poet and musician, born , died of a heart attack in Ramsgate, England at the age of 43. (Hawkwind)

1992 : Tony Williams died in New York of emphysema at the age of 64. (The Platters - singer)

2002 : Dave Williams, born David Wayne Williams. American vocalist. (Drowning Pool - lead vocals), was found dead in the band's tour bus in Manassas, Virginia at the age of 30. He died from cardiomyopathy, a heart disease that had gone undiagnosed until his death.

2006 : Johnny Duncan, American country singer, born Johnny Richard Duncan, died of a heart attack at the age of 67.
