1967 : Otis Redding, American singer and songwriter, record producer, arranger and talent scout, born Otis Ray Redding, Jr., died in a plane crash in Lake Monona, Madison, Wisconsin, at the age of 26. In the same crash died also four members of his backing band, the Bar-Kays: Jimmie King (born 8 June 1949 - guitar), Ronnie Caldwell (born 1948 - electric organ), Phalon Jones (born 1949 - saxophone) and Carl Cunningham (born 1949 - drums).

1995 : Darren Robinson aka The Human Beat Box, American rapper and beatboxing pioneer, died of a heart attack in Rosedale, New York, at the age of 28. He had been weighing 450 lb (204 kg) at the time and was suffering of fluid buildup. (Fat Boys)
