1937 : Ivor Gurney, English poet and composer, died of tuberculosis at the City of London Mental Hospital at the age of 47. He spent the last 15 years of his life in mental hospitals suffering from "delusional insanity".

1973 : Lowman Pauling, born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. American guitarist, songwriter. (The 5 Royales), died in New York City at the age of 47.

1999 : Curtis Mayfield, American soul/R&B/funk singer, songwriter and record producer, born Curtis Lee Mayfield, died in Roswell, Georgia, at the age of 57.

2010 : Teena Marie, American singer, songwriter and producer born Mary Christine Brockert, died 'from natural causes' in Pasadena, California, at the age of 54. She had suffered a 'Grand Mal' epileptic seizure just one month before her death.
