1987 : Tommy Tucker, American blues singer-songwriter and pianist, born Robert Higginbotham, died at College Hospital in Newark, New Jersey at the age of 48. The cause of his death has been attributed to either inhalation of carbon tetrachloride while refinishing the hardwood floors of his home, or, according to another source, to food poisoning.
