1951 : Arnold Schoenberg Austrian composer and painter, associated with the expressionist movement in German poetry and art, and leader of the Second Viennese School. Born in Vienna, Austria in 1874, he moved to the United States in 1934. He died in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California, at the age of 76.

1984 : Philippé Wynne, American R&B singer, born Phillip Walker, died after having suffered a heart attack in Oakland, California, at the age of 43. (The Spinners - vocals)

2003 : Eileen Rodgers, American singer and Broadway performer, died of lung cancer in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 73.
