1924 : Ferruccio Busoni, Italian composer, pianist, editor, writer, piano and composition teacher, and conductor, born Ferruccio Dante Michelangelo Benvenuto Busoni, died in Berlin from a kidney disease at the age of 58.

1990 : Bobby Day, American rock and roll and R&B musician, died of cancer in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 60.

1999 : Harry Edison, aka Harry "Sweets" Edison, American jazz trumpeter, died in his sleep at his home in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 83. (Count Basie Orchestra)

2001 : Harold Land, American hard bop and post-bop tenor saxophonist, born Harold de Vance Land, died from a stroke, at the age of 73.

2001 : Leon Wilkeson, American Southern rock bassist, born Leon Russell Wilkeson, was found dead in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, at the age of 49. He had been suffering from chronic liver and lung disease and his death was pronounced due to natural causes. (Lynyrd Skynyrd - bass)
