1968 : The first U.S. concert by the Jeff Beck Group (with Rod Stewart as lead singer) is held, in New York.

1981 : Mark Chapman pleads guilty to the murder of John Lennon six months earlier and is sentenced to 20 years-to-life in prison.

1990 : Billy Joel becomes the first rock act to play at Yankee Stadium when he performs at the first of two sellout shows.

2009 : Chris Brown pleads guilty to the charges for beating Rihanna on February 7, 2009, the night before the Grammy awards. He and Rihanna, who had been dating, were in Los Angeles for the event.
