1955 : Charlie Parker, American jazz saxophonist and composer, born Charles Parker, Jr., died in New York City at the age of 34. The official causes of death were lobar pneumonia and a bleeding ulcer but Parker also had an advanced case of cirrhosis and had suffered a heart attack.

1999 : Yehudi Menuhin, American violinist and conductor, died from complications of bronchitis in a hospital in Berlin, Germany, at the age of 82.

2011 : Joe Morello, American jazz drummer, born Joseph Albert Morello, died of heart related problems in Irvington, New Jersey, at the age of 82. (The Dave Brubeck Quintet)

2012 : Michael Hossack, American rock drummer, born Michael Joseph Hossack, died of cancer at his home in Dubois, Wyoming at the age of 65. (The Doobie Brothers)
