1973 : Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, American musician, born Ronald Charles McKernan, died of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage caused by Crohn's disease in Corte Madera, California, at the age of 27. (Grateful Dead - founding member, vocals, organ, harmonica, percussion, guitar)
