1963 : Ted Weems, American bandleader and musician, born Wilfred Theodore Wemyes, died of emphysema in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 61.

1969 : Don Drummond, Jamaican ska trombonist and composer, died in prison (for the murder of his girlfriend) in Kingston, Jamaica at the age of 37. The official cause of death was "natural causes", possibly from heart failure caused by malnutrition or improper medication. Other theories have circulated as well. (The Skatalites)
