1893 : Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Russian composer whose works included symphonies, concertos, operas, ballets, chamber music and a choral for ecclesiatic liturgy, died in Saint Petersburg at the age of 53.

1972 : Billy Murcia, Colombian-born American drummer, died of asphyxiation while passed out from drugs overdose in London, England at the age of 21. (New York Dolls - original drummer)
