1975 : Al Jackson, Jr., American drummer, producer and songwriter, born Al Jackson, was shot dead by an intruder in his house in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 39. (Booker T. & The MG's)

1992 : Harry Ray, American soul vocalist, born Harry Milton Ray, died of a stroke at the age of 45. (The Moments, which became: Ray, Goodman & Brown - lead vocals)

1999 : Lena Zavaroni, Scottish child singer and a television show host, born Lena Hilda Zavaroni, died of bronchial pneumonia at the age of 35. She had been suffering from anorexia nervosa. Three weeks after a "pioneering psychosurgical operation", which she had insisted on having (and even threatened suicide if not) to cure her depression, she developed a chest infection and died from pneumonia.

2004 : Bruce Palmer, Canadian musician, died of a heart attack in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 58. (Buffalo Speingfield - bass guitar)
