1967 : Woody Guthrie, American singer-songwriter and folk musician, born Woodrow Wilson Guthrie, died of Huntington's Disease at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, in New York City, at the age of 55. He has written thousands of songs, many that remain unrecorded as lyric sheets in the Guthrie Archives.

1976 : Victoria Spivey, American blues singer and songwriter, born Victoria Regina Spivey, died in New York City at the age of 69.
