1978 : Johnny O'Keefe, Australian rock and roll singer, born John Michael O'Keefe, died from a heart attack induced by an accidental overdose of prescribed drugs, in Darlinghurst, Australia, at the age of 43.

1985 : Nelson Riddle, American arranger, composer, bandleader and orchestrator, born Nelson Smock Riddle, Jr., died of cardiac and kidney failure in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 64. He had been diagnosed for cirrhosis of the liver five years earlier.

1999 : Amalia Rodrigues, Portuguese singer and actress, born Amália da Piedade Rodrigues, died at her home in Lisbon at the age of 79.
