1922 : Marie Lloyd, English music hall singer, comedienne and musical theatre actress, born Matilda Alice Victoria Wood, died of heart and kidney failure, three days after collapsing on stage at a show in Edmonton, London, at the age of 52.

1959 : Mario Lanza, American tenor, actor and Hollywood movie star, born Alfred Arnold Cocozza, died from a possible pulmonary embolism or a massive heart attack in Rome, Italy, at the age of -. His death is related to a contovesial method of losing weight that required him to be kept immobile and sedated for a prolonged period. He died in the clinic, one day before his scheduled discharge.
