1970 : Jimi Hendrix aka James Marshall Hendrix, American musician, singer and songwriter, born Johnny Allen Hendrix, died in Monika Dannemann's apartment in Notting Hill, London, or on the way to the hospital, where he was pronouced dead, at the age of 27. According to the coroner, he died of asphyxia while intoxicated with barbiturates.
