1984 : Ernest Tubb, American singer, songwriter and country music pioneer, born Ernest Dale Tubb, died of emphysema in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 70.

1985 : Johnny Desmond, American popular singer, born Giovanni Alfredo De Simone, died of cancer in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 65.

1990 : Tom Fogerty, American musician, born Thomas Richard Fogerty, died from an AIDS-related tuberculosis infection in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the age of 48. (Creedence Clearwater Revival)

1994 : Nicky Hopkins, English pianist and organist, born Nicholas Christian Hopkins, died from complications resulting from intestinal surgery, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 50. His death is presumably related to his lifelong battle with Crohn's Disease.
