1960 : Oscar Pettiford, American jazz double bassist, cellist and composer, died from a virus closely related to Polio in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the age of 37.

1999 : Moondog, born Louis Thomas Hardin, blind American composer, musician, poet and inventor of several musical instruments, died in Münster, Germany, at the age of 83.
